i would like to introduce a section of this blog called “pam and darren-isms.”
let me begin by saying that this is in no way a way to make fun of anyone, it is actually quite the opposite. so many great things are said in everyday conversation that i feel the need to keep track of it all and i think that this is just the place. sharing the wit and wisdom with everyone from near and far.
pam and darren are two of the most hilarious, yet extremely insightful people that i know. they are kind, extremely hospitable and amazingly talented people. i truly respect them both. SO, with that said, i would like to begin this record now.
(1) my second night in town, after a great dinner with everyone at a thai restaurant around the corner, we are sitting around in the living room having a few coronas that darren and i had purchased earlier. pam is sitting on the floor, back against the futon, staring intently at the case of mexican beer.
p: “i never thought about the carbon footprint of beer.”

(2) today, while driving me from place to place (you’re such a doll) in order to prep for glastonbury, darren asks me what i want for dinner.
“well, i don’t know. i have some soup to heat up, then you can have whatever you want.”
d: “i said ‘dinner,’ love. that’s not dinner. that’s a snack or lunch.”
“oh.”
he goes on to explain that dinner to him is a hot meal; meant to be eaten while it’s hot.
d: “dinner is like havin’ a hug. a big, furry, warm hug.”
